Frontiers of Matter Wave Optics 2022 (FOMO)

History:
The FOMO series started in 2010 with a meeting in Kalimera Kriti / Crete. Meanwhile FOMO has become the largest bi-annual conference in matter-wave science.
Already six FOMO meetings have taken place, with the same structure of a Summer School and a high-level Workshop in the second week. In 2020 the meeting had to be postponed due to the COVID pandemic, and was restarted as an online Lecture Series in 2021 with a great participation of students and postdocs.

The 2022 event:
We are now proud to announce that FOMO 2022 will be back again as a live conference, this time at the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, a superb location for forefront science and an ideal atmosphere for relaxed discussions.

The topics will include:

• Matter-wave science & technologies with Electrons, Neutrons, Atoms, Ultracold ensembles, Macromolecules, Clusters & Nanoparticles
• Tests of the foundations of physics at the interface to general relativity & to classical phenomena
• Inertial sensing: gravimetry, geodesy, navigation
• Quantum sensing
• Theory and modelling of quantum devices
• Matter-wave science in industry

Summer School:
The School aims at training the next generation of theorists and experimentalists working on matter wave optics. We are looking forward to welcoming PhD students and young postdocs in the field. As in previous editions, the summer school participants are encouraged to attend the conference as well and to stay for both weeks.  

Conference:
The conference is open to researchers in the field from all over the world. A poster session will be organized in each week.

Special Session:
A special session on Thursday 22 Sep. 2022 will also honor the late Helmut Rauch, a pioneer of matter-wave research with neutrons.

Note, that thanks to ICTP rules, the conference fee is waived for participants from developing countries.
